Adventure Begins: Children’s Activities!

Adventure Begins at Your Library!
Pick up your Adventure Begins at Your Library game board on or after June 12!

Each completed activity earns a raffle ticket – use your tickets for a chance to win prizes. Complete the whole board and automatically win a prize. All tickets must be submitted by August 15, 2024.

Children’s Summer Adventure Programs and Events:

Monday, July 29th at 3:00pm – Reading Marathon!
Reading Marathon! Pick a book or several and settle in for a fun reading event in the Community Room. Participants are welcome to bring blankets and pillows or whatever else they need to get cozy for this fun chance to read quietly with friends! 
No registration required.

Tuesday, July 30th at 10:30am – Adventures in Art Story Time Inspired by The Olympics
Adventures in Art Story Time inspired by The Olypmics. Join Miss Meg for a story featuring a different artist’s work each Tuesday in July at 10:30am. Then try your hand at an art project inspired by their work!

Tuesday, July 30th at 2:00pm – Virtual Author Talk with Dan Santat
Join this year’s winner of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, Dan Santat, as he inspires tweens and teens to tell their own stories through graphic novels. His winning book, A First Time for Everything, is a graphic memoir based on his own awkward middle school years and the trip to Europe that changed his life.

Wednesday, July 31st at 11:00am – Meigs Point Wide World of Animals!
Meigs Point will present an Olympic program: Wide World of Animals! Come ready to run and jump in a variety of Olympic-style events. Note: there are no live animals at this program.

Canceled – Thursday, August 1st at 4:00pm – Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics Adventure
Join us for a fun program inspired by one of your favorite books and silly library-themed games straight from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics!

Friday, August 2nd at 1:00pm – Outdoor Game Day!
Join us outside for fun lawn games.

Friday, August 9th, All Day – LEGO Day
All Day LEGO building fun! Come build with our LEGO collection. Challenges will be available, but we love to see what you create from your imagination!
No registration required.

Friday, August 9th at 7:00pm – Observe the Night Sky with Lyme Land Trust
Observe the moon and other night sky objects through the telescopes housed at the Trail 53 Observatory in Lyme! Join the Lyme Land Trust Astronomy Club for a tour of the night sky.

Monday, August 12th at 5:30pm – Adventures with Slime Party
Slime party for ages 5-12! Come mix up your very own slime and enter it into our slime contest!
Registration full.

Thursday, August 15th at 6:30pm – Family Fort Building: End of Summer Celebration!
Celebrate the end of the SUMMER CHALLENGE with an after-hours fort building party at the Phoebe! Join us for a story or two, a snack, and flashlight adventures!
Bring your own supplies for fort building all over the library, All families welcome!
