SE/CT TRAVELING QUEER MOVIE NIGHT

SE/CT Traveling Queer Movie Night and OutCT are co-hosting a screening of But, I’m a Cheerleader at the Phoebe! All are welcome at this intergenerational event; bring a friend and a cozy blanket/seat. (The library has plenty of chairs, but bring an optional cushion, or camping chair, etc!) Discussion to follow the film, light refreshments provided.

“But, I’m a Cheerleader” is a campy comedy, cult classic, and clever critique of heternormativty featuring classic performances from current stars, released in 2000. The premise centers on 17-year-old Megan (Natasha Lyonne), a sunny cheerleader who enjoys Melissa Etheridge and vegetarianism, and whose family is worried she is a…lesbian! Megan is sent to True Directions, a reparative therapy camp; hilarity and revelations ensue!
