The James Family Letters with Elisabeth Petry: Letters Spanning 1877-1920.
Author and journalist Elisabeth Petry will give a virtual presentation on her remarkable family story. Hear about the legacy that includes:
• the first best-selling female African American author
• a member of the 48th US Volunteer Infantry in the Philippines after the Spanish-American War
• two of the very first licensed African American pharmacists in the state of Connecticut – right across the bridge in Old Saybrook
Elisabeth will also reveal details about her forthcoming project – a documentary featuring her family’s letters, produced in collaboration with her cousins.
