About Keith: 

Keith Barker has been an Engineering and Education faculty member of Universities in England and USA. He has developed a strong interest in the rail system of south-east Connecticut following the style of BBC’s Michael Portillo in which there is more to a railway system that just the trains, tracks and signals. Keith’s story has been published in the Mystic River press/The Sun and the Norwich Bulletin. Keith has a BEng (1964) and PhD (1966) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, England. He taught Electrical Engineering Courses at the UK University before joining the University of Connecticut’ Engineering School in 1984. He has a Professorship in the School of Education as well, and also served in the Provost’s office for 6 years. During this latter period, he initiated the Institute for Teaching and Learning that included the creation of the taught University’s Graduate Certificate for hundreds of graduates who would otherwise have no credentials to complement their research background in applying for a teaching/research position.
