Adventure Begins: Summer Reading for Adults

Adventure Begins at Your Library! Summer reading isn’t just for kids!

Discover, learn, and explore with us this summer and earn raffle tickets for: Reviewing a book, attending a program, using Hiveclass, using HeritageQuest, participating in our reading challenge on Beanstack, and more!

All tickets must be submitted by 5:00pm on August 28, 2024.

Hiveclass is a digital learning platform that provides access to over 1,800 skill based, high quality, educational videos covering 16 sports and activities.

Beanstack is an online reading log and challenge platform. Log your reading history, review books, and get book recommendations.

HeritageQuest is a digital genealogy and history resource. Discover your family history today. Search census, military, and immigration records.

August Events:

Fridays, August 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd at 10:00am – Phoebe’s Morning Meditation
Join us in the native garden, weather permitting, or in the Community Room for a 20 minute recorded guided meditation. Bring your own blanket or cushion or use one of the chairs provided. Beginners welcome!
No registration required.

Wednesday, August 7th at 2:00pm – Virtual Author Talk with Smithsonian Curator Dr. Jennifer Levasseur
Your All Access Pass Behind the Scenes at the Space Station. You’re invited to virtually step inside one of the greatest international achievements with a behind-the-scenes guide to space exploration with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum curator Dr. Jennifer Levasseur.

Wednesday, August 7th at 6:30pm – Hiveclass Community Yoga
All are welcome to attend this casual yoga class to get acquainted with Hiveclass! Hiveclass is a free digital learning platform for sports and physical activity. Allow Hiveclass to guide you through foundational poses and flows and learn how to access classes at home. Bring your own yoga mat!

Thursday, August 15th at 2:00pm – Virtual Author Talk with Irena Smith, PhD

Another college application season is around the corner, and stress is already beginning to ratchet up for teens and their parents. The Radium Girls by Kate Moore
A book club for the morbidly curious. We will explore dark topics such as true crime, natural disasters, war stories, death and dying, manmade disasters, forensic science, burial and funerary practices, and cults. All are welcome, multiple copies of the selected book available at the service desk.

We’ll be drawing prizes for the Summer Reading For Adults Program! Prizes include:
