The Magic of Shakespeare – Saturday, May 4 at 11:30am

What’s the most exciting way to learn Shakespeare? Acting it out! Come and join us for an interactive, immersive experience where students act out the plots of Shakespeare plays and learn a bit about The Bard. Plot comprehension is the first step to understanding and appreciating Shakespeare’s work, so why not make it fun?

In “The Magic of Shakespeare,” we’ll work with two of Shakespeare’s most magical plays: The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Both are light-hearted fantasy plays exploring relationships between parents and children and feature fairies, sprites, monsters, magical spells, and most importantly: Happy endings.

“The Magic of Shakespeare” is presented by Kelly Burr, a Shakespeare scholar and director of The Ground Up Shakespeare Troupe. She earned her master’s degree in Shakespeare at The Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-Upon-Avon and trained with top professionals of The Royal Shakespeare Company. She has taught and directed children’s Shakespeare for ten years and offered a multitude of special workshops and masterclasses. Her approach combines her theatrical training and academic resources to create a fun and unique experience for students.

This workshop is open to ages 8-12. Space is limited, registration is required.
